Geoffrey The Giant

LOOK UP. WAY UP.

After fourteen years of making records and playing shows as an independent recording and performing artist, Geoffrey “The Giant” Stone is ready to make it big. The thirty-two year old piano man and singer/songwriter/producer, whose influences include Barenaked Ladies, Ben Folds Five, Ron Sexsmith, Queen, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones, is about to take the music industry by storm. With his fourth L.P. nearing completion, Geoffrey is now setting his Giant sights on conquering the world.

The new record, Geoffrey The Giant’s Big Bang, is a masterpiece that highlights this young artist’s mastery of the craft of songwriting. The tunes make up an eclectic mix of musical styles, in the tradition of bands like Barenaked Ladies – who are known for a repertoire that’s full of both comedic and quippy material as well as contemplative songs that are sober and sincere.

The lead single from the album, Rock Paper Scissors Lizard Spock, is one of the many campy, satirical pieces on the record which showcase his comical wit and hilarious sense of humor. The video for the song is a side-splitting parody of the game of the same name that received a massive amount of exposure when it was referenced on the hit television seriesĀ The Big Bang Theory. You can play the game on the splash page of his website, www.geoffreythegiant.com.

Stone has faced many challenges and had his share of struggles over the course of his life and career, but he has also had some successes along the way. One of the most notable points of his career was recording a duet with his biggest songwriting influence, Canadian Ron Sexsmith, for Stone’s sophomore LP release Faith in the Unknown.

“Ron has been a hero of mine since I got into his music when he released Blue Boy in two-thousand one. When I approached him after one of his shows about singing on my upcoming record, I was thrilled and amazed when he said he’d do what he could to find the time. Not only is he one of the greatest songwriters ever to walk the Earth, but he’s also one of the kindest and generous souls you’ll ever meet”.

Stone sang a duet with another Juno award-winning Canadian songwriter when he performed with Carly Rae Jepsen in the 2007 season of Canadian Idol. “When Carly approached me about being her duet partner, I was delighted. Throughout the time I spent working with her, I could see from her talent, charm and her work ethic, that she had what it takes to become what she is now – a global pop icon.”

Now, with his academic goals accomplished and his record on the cusp of its release, ‘The Giant‘ is ready to be unleashed upon the world and join the ranks of his talented Canadian compatriots. The single is available on iTunes, and the full L.P. is expected to be released in the Summer of 2014.

Whether you think he might be a giant or not, get ready for something big.
